Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton

Kristen Dalton became the second Miss North Carolina USA ever to be crowned Miss USA when she won the Miss USA 2009 title at the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 19, 2009. The 58th Annual Miss USA pageant was hosted by “My Name is Earl” star Nadine Velazquez and Billy Bush of “Access Hollywood.” The star-studded panel of judges selected Miss North Carolina USA as Miss USA 2009 from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Kristen Dalton, Miss USA 2009, is a talented singer and dancer. She completed her degree in Psychology and Spanish at East Carolina University. After winning the title Miss USA 2009, Kristen said that she was honored to be selected as the winner. In addition she said, “Though I have several goals during my reign as Miss USA, my ultimate goal is to make America proud by inspiring women empowerment and to represent young women everywhere with grace, humility, and leadership.”

Throughout the two-hour Miss USA 2009 Pageant, the contestants competed in three categories; the swim suit competition, the evening gown competition, and interviews. Based on the contestants’ scores in these competitions, the “Top Five” finalists for Miss USA 2009 were selected. Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart, crowned her successor at the finally to this event.

Musical guests for the Miss USA 2009 event included Kevin Rudolf performing “Let it Rock” during the swim suit competition. In addition, the Veronicas performed their hit single “Untouched” during the evening gown competition. The estimated audience for the 58th Annual Miss USA Pageant was over 250 million viewers worldwide.

MISS PHOTOGENIC USA™ Award: Miss West Virginia USA, Jessi Pierson. The general public voted on www.nbc.com for the delegate who exemplifies beauty through the lens of a camera. She was awarded a $1,000 cash prize.

MISS CONGENIALITY USA™ Award: Miss Wyoming USA, Cynthia Pate. The award reflects the respect and admiration of the delegate’s peers, who voted for her as the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational participant. She was awarded a $1,000 cash prize.
