About Kristen Dalton
Miss USA 2009

Kristen Dalton was born on December 13, 1986. Kristen attended Winecoff Elementary School and began middle school at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School in Cabarrus County, North Carolina before her family moved to Wilmington. Kristen Dalton is a recent graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Psychology and Spanish from the Honors College.

Winning pageants is a common theme for women in Kristen Dalton’s family. Kristen Dalton followed in her mother’s footsteps when she won the Miss North Carolina title this past November. Kristen’s mother, Jeannie Boger, was the Miss North Carolina USA winner in 1982. In addition, Kristen’s younger sister, Julia Dalton, won the Miss North Carolina Teen USA pageant in 2008 and took second runner-up in the Miss USA teen pageant. The third Dalton woman, Kristen’s older sister, Kenzie Dalton, was first runner up in the 2006 Miss North Carolina Teen USA pageant. Kenzie was recently engaged to actor Chad Michael Murray.

Kristen Dalton gave a special thanks to all of her family via her blog following winning the Miss USA 2009 title. She gave thanks to her siblings by saying, “Kenzie, Julia, and Drew, my sweet siblings for making me motivational cards and posters while I was at Miss USA and for being the best cheerleaders ever!” In addition, Kristen thanked her mother for her support throughout the competition by saying, “Mama, you are my best friend and mentor, thank you for EVERYTHING but especially spending countless hours shopping with me for my Miss USA wardrobe and helping me to become stylish while managing a tight budget!”

Kristen Dalton, 5’7” with blond hair and blue eyes, wore a flowing, blue Grecian gown for the evening gown competition in the Miss USA pageant that looked stunning among a series of white dresses. When asked about winning the Miss USA 2009 pageant, Kristen Dalton told reporters that winning the pageant “feels really natural.” She continued on to say, “I've worked so be here and this has been my lifelong dream and it's finally here. And whoever knew you could win in a turquoise gown?”

Service and leadership have always been a big part of Kristen Dalton’s life. She was the ECU Vice-President of Leadership for ODK National Leadership Honors Society, the Vice-President of the Psychology Honors Society at East Carolina University and planned several leadership events and forums on campus throughout her college career. She also spent time living in and doing mission work in Guatemala and Spain.

During her reign as Miss USA 2009, Kristen Dalton is looking forward to all of the wonderful experiences she will encounter especially the acting classes at the New York Film Academy. Kristen talks about her first acting class by saying, “I read a script with another actress. My teacher filmed our scene a few times and then we critiqued my acting skills! It was a very dynamic class, and I have already learned so much in just one class! My next one is on Monday, and I will be reading a script that my teacher gave me to read over this weekend.”
